HAIKU OF LOVE

A »haiku« is a traditional Japanese short poem form that now enjoys great popularity all over the world: a haiku can be used to express a mood or feeling in a short space, and it opens up wide associative spaces for the reader. So it is not surprising that numerous haiku deal with love in all its forms – and yet there has been no compilation of love haiku in German translation until now. A gap that this extremely worthwhile collection now fills. It presents 50 love haiku, Japanese and German, together with 50 charming woodblock prints. The chronological arc spans over five hundred years to the lively present of modern haiku poetry in Japan.
